ADHD Care for PHSC Students

PHSC students with a valid college ID get the new patient ADHD visit at Padgett Medical Center for $130, 50% off the regular $260, when they book online with a card on file. The student price is for that first visit alone; every monthly follow-up is $136, for students and everyone else. No charge is made when you book, and the college ID is checked at the clinic.

What's the drive from Porter Campus to Padgett?

About 35 minutes, mostly on the interstate. From Mansfield Boulevard, take State Road 56 west to I-75 south, stay right onto I-275 south, and exit at Fletcher Avenue (exit 52). Follow Fletcher west to Dale Mabry Highway, go south to Linebaugh Avenue, then west to 6904 W. Linebaugh Ave. It's about 23 miles, roughly 34 minutes without traffic.

Another route uses State Road 54 and Dale Mabry Highway to reach the Veterans Expressway, a toll road, and comes out at Linebaugh Avenue. It is a couple of miles longer and takes about the same time. Either way, I-275 and the roads into north Tampa are slower at rush hour, so a late-morning appointment is the easiest drive.

Why does only the first visit need the drive?

Because Padgett's new patient ADHD visit is always in person, while follow-ups don't have to be. The 30-minute evaluation with Morgan Colee, PA, happens at the Tampa clinic, and no diagnosis or prescription is promised before it. After that, the required monthly follow-ups are 15 minutes and can be by telehealth.

For Wesley Chapel students, that is the real advantage. Telehealth works anywhere in Florida, so you can join a follow-up from home, from your car in a Porter Campus lot between classes, or from a quiet corner of the library, as long as you're in the state and show a valid Florida driver's license or state ID on camera. If you live in Florida year-round, that's all there is to it; if you'll leave the state for a break, schedule around the trip.

How do you plan the first visit around a PHSC schedule?

Look for a free weekday. If you're splitting time between classes, work and family, count on about an hour of driving round trip plus the 30-minute appointment. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and until 7 PM on Wednesdays.

What resources does PHSC have on campus?

PHSC has a Student Accessibility Services office, which serves registered students with disabilities and is housed in Building A at Porter Campus, and a Student Assistance Program run with BayCare that offers students free, confidential counseling. Those are PHSC's own services; contact them directly about how they work.

Who is allowed to take medication prescribed at Padgett?

Only the student it's prescribed to. Passing ADHD medication to a friend or selling it is illegal, and that holds whether you live with family in Wesley Chapel or with roommates. Padgett checks E-FORCSE, Florida's prescription drug monitoring program, before any controlled medication, and prescriptions are filled at your own pharmacy, outside the visit fee. A pharmacy near home in Pasco saves a drive.

Padgett Medical Center is not affiliated with Pasco-Hernando State College.
